Come as You Are: The Story of Nirvana is a 1993 book by Michael Azerrad, covering the career of Nirvana from its inception. The author interviewed the members of the band about the band's history and former members. The story was re-released after Cobain's death, it includes one extra chapter. Critics have criticized the story, claiming that Azerrad included hyperbole and treated them as fact. Charles R. Cross claims this was due to lead singer, Kurt Cobain's active participation in the biography's creation and the fact that Azerrad was a fan of the band.
